Guide
Getting started
Quick-start for new Educator users. Printable.
For teachers — set up in 5 minutes
- 1
Create your account
Go to educator-labs.com and sign up as a Teacher. You'll be asked to create or join a school — enter your school's name and you're in.
- 2
Create a class
From your dashboard, click Create class. Set the subject (e.g. GCSE History), exam board (e.g. AQA), year group, and a class name. Foundation / Higher tier is chosen afterwards on the class settings page — new classes cover Both by default.
- 3
Share your class code
Every class has a unique code. Share it with your students — they enter it when they sign up. That's it: they're in your class.
- 4
Optional: set topic filter
If you want students to practise only topics you've taught so far, use the topic filter on the class settings page. You can update it as the term progresses.
- 5
Check Class accuracy by topic
After a few sessions, your class page shows a colour-coded accuracy bar for every topic: green (≥80%), amber, or red (<50%). Use it to spot which topics need more classroom time or a targeted homework assignment.
For students — joining a class
- 1
Get your class code
Ask your teacher for the 6-character class code. It looks like K7XM92. Your teacher can also send you a direct invite link that pre-fills it.
- 2
Sign up at educator-labs.com
Create an account with your email or Google. Choose Student when asked who you are.
- 3
Enter your name and date of birth
Your name appears on your trading card and the class leaderboard. Your date of birth is used as an age check — it is not shared with anyone.
- 4
Enter your class code
If you arrived via your teacher's invite link, the code is already filled in — just confirm it. Otherwise, when asked 'Are you joining a class?' select Yes and paste in your code. Either way, this links you to your teacher's class, sets your subject and exam board automatically, and puts you on the class roster.
- 5
Start practising
You land on your dashboard. Hit Practice and work through your first session — 15 cards, 3–5 minutes. Your streak starts the moment you complete it.
For students — studying independently
- 1
Sign up at educator-labs.com
Create a free account with your email or Google. Choose Student, then select No — I'm studying on my own when asked about a class code.
- 2
Enter your name and date of birth
Your name appears on your trading card. Your date of birth is used as an age check and is not shared.
- 3
Pick your subject
Choose from the live subjects — Food, History, Geography, Combined Science, Computer Science, Religious Studies, Design & Technology, and Business (each GCSE and KS3). You can add more subjects at any time from the header.
- 4
Pick a username
This is how you appear on global leaderboards — not your real name. 3–20 characters; letters, numbers, and underscores.
- 5
Start practising
You land on your dashboard. Hit Practice and work through your first session. Your streak starts immediately. Pick your avatar from your profile page whenever you like.
